I’m also an ordained interfaith minister and offer the following services
The Ethical Teen is a program I created as my oldest son was turning thirteen. My husband and I were raised with different faith backgrounds (Jewish and Episcopal) and it was important to the both of us to give our children an awareness of entering in this next stage of their life but without being steeped in the religious teachings we both experienced.
Today our kids are faced with a world that looks nothing like it did when we were their age and still it’s worth asking what does it mean to leave childhood behind, enter into adolescence, on your way to adulting? I wanted a way for our kids to have an opportunity to explore these questions without the help of religious text to guide them.
The Ethical Teen is a small group eight-week program for seventh and eighth graders. We come together weekly for discussion on what it means to grow up in today’s world. With family support each participant completes their own fundraiser and community service project. The final piece is a celebration or ritual to mark the moment.
You can read a little bit about it in this article written by Mike Albo for Avenue Magazine.
The Chaplain of Love is a wedding service for folks looking for a non-traditional joyful wedding ceremony with an ordained minister. This service includes one marriage counseling session to ensure both partners understand one another's expectations from marriage. Contact me for more details.
